Faculty Collaboration

"It is the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) that those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed." – Charles Darwin

Our common goal is to help all AUP students to be successful in their academic pursuits and beyond. The topics below elaborate on how we can work together to achieve this goal.

STUDENT ADVISING

As you are working with students, support them through the career development process and engage them in conversations about their interests. Here are some ways you can contribute to their career planning:

  • Send students to visit our drop-in office hours to discuss their needs and personal situation. As laws in France are complex, we can explain how labor laws in France apply to their particular situation.
  • Encourage students to attend a Careers event such as an internship info session or LinkedIn Network and Nibble. The full schedule is on AUP Engage
  • Urge students to create a Global Talent Profile to assist in their internship search.
  • Write an effective letter of recommendation for graduate schools.
  • Be a strong reference for job and internship applications.
  • Recommend that students participate in the Global Professional Skills (GPS) Program

CLASS VISITS

Please consider us a resource. We can visit your class or department meeting to present on a particular topic, attend department open houses to talk to students about careers and internships, or brainstorm with you to create a special program.

At the start of each semester, our center reaches out to all faculty members to request 10 to 15 minutes of class time to make students aware of our services, particularly in relation to internships. Please consider sharing this time with us.

EMPLOYER REFERRALS

Have a guest speaker coming in? Know someone in your network looking for talent? Fostering AUP’s employer network is a huge part of what we do. Please help us with this effort.

  • Introduce us to contacts who can help advance the breadth of job and internship opportunities on the AUP database. An introductory email to careersataup.edu or internshipsataup.edu is ideal.
  • Invite a staff member from the Careers team to attend networking events where employers and/or alumni are present.
  • Collaborate with the Global Professional Skills (GPS) Program team to promote your events. Students can get GPS credit for attending pre-approved events; this can be a great way to increase attendance. Email gpsataup.edu to get support.
  • Invite us to classes with guest speakers so that we can also learn about skills and trends of value to employers.
  • Provide us recommendations for new employers. We are happy to make the initial outreach.
  • Refer employers to the Global Talent Portal so they can directly recruit AUP student talent.
