Students may require specific housing due to disability accommodations. There are two possible avenues for ensuring your housing needs are met.
If none of the available housing options within our AUP Housing roster fits your disability or medical needs, you can submit a medical exemption. To do so through your AUP Status Page:
You will be asked to provide documentation to support your medical exemption request. The document must include all components to be accepted:
To learn more about documentation requirements, please visit our Accessibility and Accommodations page.
Students who are approved for a medical exemption can receive housing assistance via the housing database.
The process for requesting disability accommodations for priority housing placement at AUP is managed by the Accommodations Coordinator in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) in collaboration with the Housing office.
Students with disabilities may be eligible for accommodations in the university’s housing. Students can request housing accommodations and provide supporting documentation through the AUP Status Page by completing the “Disability Accommodations” form. Please note that, once that form is submitted, students will then need to sign up for AUP Housing by completing the following housing forms on their AUP Status Page:
Once your request for housing accommodations has been reviewed, if approved, a review will be conducted with ARC and Housing to determine if those needs can be met within AUP’s university housing. If it is determined that the needs cannot be accommodated, students will receive a medical exemption from the housing requirement and assistance in seeking housing that best suits their needs outside of the AUP Housing offer.
To be eligible, students must meet the posted deadlines and follow all policies related to the housing selection process. To learn more about documentation requirements, please visit our Accessibility and Accommodations page.
Priority housing for accommodation is issued on a first-come-first- serve basis. The deadline for request priority is outlined in the “Disability Accommodations” form of your AUP Status Page. While late requests for accommodations may be submitted, such requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and it is less likely that the university will be able to grant them as there will be limited availability following the first round of housing assignments.
