Summer Housing

AUP residences are available to all students registered in AUP Summer School for the duration of their summer session. The information below outlines our housing requirement, available accommodation (room type, price, commute), payment and refund policies, and the housing assignment process for summer 2026. Please reach out to us at admissionsataup.edu if you have any questions about summer housing!

HOUSING REQUIREMENT

  • The university requires that all students under 18 years of age and all recent high school graduates with no previous college credits attending AUP Summer School be safely housed during their studies – as such, these students have to secure AUP housing for their summer session(s).
  • Students required to secure AUP housing for the summer can apply for an exemption through their AUP status page. Exemptions must be justified with the appropriate documentation. Approved reasons for receiving a housing exemption are:
    • If you have French citizenship
      • Scan of French passport or French ID card.
    • If you live in Ile-de-France
      • Proof of housing (dated at least 3 months), and
      • If the proof of housing is in another person’s name, a scanned copy of their ID, and a letter signed by them attesting they will be housing the student for the summer.
    • If you are traveling with family members, or have a safe place to stay with a relative in Ile-de-France
      • A scan of the family member’s passport or ID card, and
      • A signed letter from the family member certifying that they will be housing the student for the duration of their summer session
  • Students over 18 and with previous college credits are not required to secure AUP Housing for the summer. They may elect to register for housing in an AUP residence, or seek housing independently.
  • Please note that AUP housing services are available to registered summer students only.

The residences below are available for summer students; please note that priority for single studios is given to college-aged students, adult learners, and gender-fluid or transgender students; high school students and graduates without college experience are primarily placed in shared apartments.

Students will benefit from a small common courtyard where they can study together on sunny days.

SHARED HOUSING GENDER POLICY

Our shared housing, whether in twin studios or single and double rooms in shared apartments, does not allow for mixed sex and gender allocations. We are working on having inclusive housing for our LGBTQA+ students, including those who identify as transgender, gender non-binary or gender-fluid, but as we are still building our roster of AUP-managed residences where we have more control, we are not yet able to accommodate these students in shared housing options. Students who identify as gender non-binary or gender-fluid will have access to single studios - we are able to prioritize their housing assignment to ensure that they are placed within those options, especially as we want to make sure that they feel safe in their housing; this is why students can indicate their gender identity in their housing preference form.

ROOMMATE AND HOUSEMATE ASSIGNMENTS

Students who register for shared housing, whether in a double studio in Musset, in a single or a shared room in a Jouffroy apartment, or in single rooms in a Université shared apartment, can be assigned a roommate through two different ways:

  1. Roommate Request: if you know someone also attending the same summer session, you will be able to request them as a roommate in your housing preferences form on your AUP status page. Students are guaranteed to room with their requested roommate provided that they both request each other, and are assigned to the same room type in the same residence (please note that we do not have mixed gender assignments in AUP housing).
  2. Roommate Survey Pairing: if you do not have a requested roommate but are assigned to a shared housing option, you will be sent a roommate and housemate preference survey to fill out ahead of move-in. The housing office will match roommates and housemates based on their stated preferences on the survey. Students will be sent their roommate/housemate assignment ahead of move-in.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT PROCESS

  • The housing office will be processing summer housing requests on the first week of each month – students will receive a confirmation email of their housing assignment at that time listing their housing charges and the deadline for the confirmation payment.
  • Payments will be due for the full housing charges by the end of the month upon students receiving their assignment.
    • Please note that part of the payment (20% of the semester rent) is a non-refundable deposit to confirm housing.
  • Should students not confirm their reservation via payment by the end of the month, their housing reservation will be cancelled, and the assigned room will be made available again to incoming students registering for housing. They will have to resubmit a housing form based on updated availability.

  • Step 1: Students select a housing option on their status page (booking AUP housing, submitting an exemption, or seeking housing independently).

FAQs

I am registered for both the June and July sessions; can I stay in my housing for the week between sessions where there is no class or do I have to move out?

Students who are registered for both the June and July sessions, and who are living in AUP Housing, will keep their housing assignment for the entirety of their time at AUP Summer School, including the week between the June session and the July session.

Can I have guests staying with me while in the residence?

Overnight guests are not permitted in AUP residences. Students can, however, have guests during visiting hours (8AM to 10PM) provided they escort them at all times while in the residence.

I have medical needs and need accommodation within my housing placement. How can I request a specific assignment?

If you have medical needs requiring a specific housing assignment, please reach out to our Learning Accommodations Coordinator (rwebberataup.edu) in the Academic Resource Center (ARC). Our colleagues will review the request – the general guidelines for documenting the request are outlined in our Accessibility & Accommodation Services page. Following the review, our colleagues in ARC will communicate recommendations to the housing office based on your request; the housing office will work to meet the accommodation needed. Please note, however, that availabilities may be limited as assignments are issued on a rolling basis starting February.

Is there a curfew in place in the residences?

We do not have a curfew in place in AUP residences; you can review our housing policies page for full details of the housing policies in place in our residences. Our summer students, like our full-year students, are free to come and go within their residence for the duration of their reservation. Students should make sure to always carry their key with them to ensure they have uninterrupted access to their housing, and to respect community guidelines to avoid any disruptions to their hallmates.

Do any of the residences have a meal plan?

There are no meal plans included or offered with any of the residences. Nevertheless, all students have access to a kitchen space to prepare their meals, and there are also grocery stores, restaurants, and bakeries located near all the residences, so students will have a variety of options from which to choose. At AUP, in our Combes Student Life Centre, we also have the Amex Café, which offers a variety of hot and cold breakfast, lunch, and snack options for students.
