Career and Internship Resources for Students

There are many different ways to embark on your career development journey. Here are a few ways to start and resources put together by the Center for Academic, Career, and Experiential Advising:

CAREER AND INTERNSHIP EVENTS ON AUP Engage

The ACE Center offers advising and support to AUP students on a variety of academic professional development subjects. Whether it's finding an internship or a job, or polishing up your CV, our office is here to help, and recommends attending our suite of workshops dedicated to these topics during the Fall and Spring semesters. Workshops include Power Up Your Resume, Internship Information Sessions, Networking and LinkedIn, Gearing Up for Grad School, and more!

Find the full list of events on AUP Engage.

AUP GUIDES, TEMPLATES, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Use these guides put together by the Career and Internship Office to create or polish a resume or cover letter, get ready for an interview, or perfect your email etiquette:

RESUME TEMPLATES

Here are some websites that have templates you may want to use to create a resume or CV. Please note that some platforms offer both free and paid subscriptions to their services.

Programs like Microsoft Word and Google Docs also have a variety of templates available. Be sure to always have a Word version of your resume or CV handy: you may need to copy-paste information directly into some electronic applications, and sometimes it is the only format accepted by a variety of platforms.

GOINGLOBAL

GoinGlobal is an excellent resource for AUP students who aspire to an international career. The site includes comprehensive country-by country career and employment guides, international job and internship listings, visa applications information, and more!

You can create a free account on GoinGlobal using your AUP email address.

LINKEDIN LEARNING

LinkedIn Learning is an online platform that helps you enhance your skills thanks to more than 13,000 video tutorials. These videos are led by experts and professionals, and cover a variety of subjects. From using Photoshop to becoming a project manager, to learning how to work more effectively on a team, navigate conflict and negotiate – LinkedIn Learning has something for everyone.

You can access LinkedIn Learning with your AUP email address by using this special link for AUP

Completion of a LinkedIn Learning certification (of your choice) can count as credit toward the Professional pillar of the Global Professional Skills Program (GPS). To get credit, complete the LinkedIn Learning certification, then go to your GPS path on AUP Engage (to find your path: click on your personal menu icon, top right of the screen, then click on “paths”). In the "Professional" pillar of the path, click on the item called “LinkedIn Learning Certification” and fill in the webform.

LinkedIn Learning certifications can also be added to your personal LinkedIn profile. You will be prompted to add the certification to your profile when you complete the course. This is a great way to display your new credential and to keyword-optimize your profile.
