The Iceland study trip provides an in-depth look at the concept of “place branding” for those students studying marketing and branding. It provides the opportunity to undertake field research in one of the most successfully promoted tourist destinations of recent years. Students meet with local brand managers and place promoters while studying the region’s advertising campaigns and local communications infrastructure.
While visiting this exceptional tourist destination, famous for its unique natural landscapes, students conduct ethnographic field research within the context of a budding promotional industry driven by global markets. They observe how the process of place branding relates to (and has an impact on) local customs, habits and traditions as well as on shared senses of place and nation, before generating a place branding portfolio based on their experiences and research.
This Giving Tuesday, AUP is uniting its entire community in support of our Coup de Pouce travel grant. Please support our #OneMoreJourney campaign to help students benefit from the lasting experience of an international study trip. When it comes to Coup de Pouce, a little help really does go a long way.
