Olympics in our Neighborhood

With our campus based in the heart of the city, students will never be far from one of the many venues. Here are just a few of the nearby highlights...

  1. The Arena Champ de Mars is a temporary 10,000m² building that hosted events while the Grand Palais undergoes construction. With these works completed, the Arena Champ de Mars also play host competitions for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Events will include weightlifting and judo.

Distance to campus: 15 minutes on the bus, 27 minutes walk

  2. Across the river, the Trocadéro and the Eiffel Tower face each other in one of the most iconic locations in central Paris. This area will be hosting events and activities for local residents and Games fans alike. During the Games, the Trocadero will provide an exceptional vantage point for spectators to take in the triathlon and para-triathlon, road cycling, marathon, 20 km walk, and swimming events.

Distance to campus: 17 minutes on public transport, 26 minute walk

  3. The Esplanade des Invalides is a vast green space abutting campus in the 7th arrondissement. During term time, students are often found relaxing on these lawns and as the Olympics come to town it will transform into a hub of activity as the venue for the archery and para-archery events.

Distance to campus: 6 minutes on the bus, 7 minute walk

  4. The Pont Alexandre III is an iconic bridge linking the two banks of the Seine. Since its creation, the Pont Alexandre III has been associated with major events in Paris, and the Paris 2024 Games will be no different. Connecting two other Paris 2024 sports venues, the Grand Palais and the Invalides, and a stone's throw from the Concorde, the Arena Champ-de-Mars, the Pont d'Iéna and the Tour Eiffel stadium, the Pont Alexandre III will also host the finish of the individual time trial in road cycling, marathon swimming, triathlon and para-triathlon.

Distance to campus: 8 on the bus, 10 minute walk

  5. The Arena Paris Sud in the 15th arrondissement is usually one of the busiest exhibition and convention centers in Europe. For the Olympics it will play host to weightlifting, handball, table tennis and volleyball.

Distance to campus: 30 minutes on the metro
