Roman ruins? Absolutely not; in southern France you can see monuments from Ancient Roman times that are in great condition and still in use. In this trip we visit the Roman amphitheater, theater and bath at Arles, a town made famous almost 2,000 years later by its residents Gauguin and Van Gogh. We also visit Arles’ impressive Antiquities museum. Another active amphitheater can be found at Nîmes, along with the beautiful“Maison Carrée,” built during the reign of Emperor Augustus. The highlight of the trip is the Pont-du-Gard: the practical and aesthetically-pleasing aqueduct that brought fresh water directly from the mountains to the city of Nîmes – the most beautiful bridge in the world.
