CANCELED - "Global Risks and Prospects: the Only Certainty is … Uncertainty" with Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn

Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn is an international economist whose career in public service, central banking and governance spans multinational and domestic organizations in France, Switzerland and the USA. He is Honorary Director General of the Banque de France (BDF) in Paris (banque-france.fr) and Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council.

During most of the last two decades, he was a member of the BDF Executive Committee, its Chief Economist and Director General in charge of Statistics, Economics and International (as well as training and secondments). He was also the member or alternate in various international bodies, such as the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Committee, G7-G20 meetings, and the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Union. In 2008-11, he worked in Washington DC (WDC), first at the US Federal Reserve Board and then at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as Executive Director and Board member.

In the first half of his career, Strauss-Kahn’s engagement in the BDF included positions in statistics, research, modelling and forecasting, international negotiation, and management. He was also seconded to the IMF (WDC), the OECD (Paris), and the BIS (Basel, Switzerland). He graduated in France (Business at ESSEC, Econometrics at Paris I - Sorbonne, Political Sciences at IEP Paris, Public Economics at Paris X – Nanterre where he studied also sociology) as well as in the USA (Economics at the University of Chicago).

Strauss-Kahn serves on for-profit and philanthropic boards of business, cultural, and educational organizations. He is the chairperson of the Scientific Council and a board member of CITECO: “City of Economics”, first European Museum for economic education (www.citeco.org/en).He teaches economics and speaks internationally at high-level conferences that he sometimes also organizes. He is an Officer in the French “Légion d’honneur.”
