Book Workshop: The Migrating Self, A New Psychology of Migration and its Public, by Kesi Mahendran

Room Q-609 - 6 rue du Colonel Combes 75007
Wednesday, September 11, 2024 - 18:30 to 20:30

The book The Migrating Self challenges conventional views on migration by introducing a new psychology that positions people's migration experiences along a continuum of ten degrees of mobility. Drawing from fifteen years of empirical research across Europe, the author argues that the public is not simply divided into migrants and non-migrants but consists of individuals with diverse migration stories. The book explores how these varied experiences shape perspectives on home, belonging, and future mobility. By encouraging readers to reflect on their own migration stories, the book aims to reshape public debates and advance the study of migration.
