The sixth session of the Care & Democracy Seminar Series will host Judge Patricia Pérez Golberg (Judge at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and Former Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Chile) for a talk on "The Right to Care".
The Care & Democracy Seminar Series explores how the relational dimensions of care, traditionally centered on dependency and moral responsibility, can deepen our understanding of democratic practices. By examining care as a normative and political framework, the seminars interrogate how care ethics challenges conventional liberal-democratic ideals, reshaping conceptions of citizenship, power, and social cohesion. Speakers include: Sandra Laugier (Université Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne), Patricia Paperman (Paris 8), Carol Gilligan (NYU), Fabienne Brugére (Paris 8), Barbara Formis (Université Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne), Patricia Pérez Goldberg (IACHR), Valentina Moro (Stony Brook University), and Zona Zarić (AUP).
