Care & Dem Seminar Series: Valentina Moro, Politics of Care: Feminist Approaches to Rethinking Communality

Q-609 - 6, rue du Colonel Combes 75007 Paris
Tuesday, April 22, 2025 - 17:30 to 19:30

The sixth session of the Care & Democracy Seminar Series will host Valentina Moro (Stony Brook University) for a talk on "Politics of Care: Feminist Approaches to Rethinking Communality as a Critique of Neoliberalism".

The Care & Democracy Seminar Series explores how the relational dimensions of care, traditionally centered on dependency and moral responsibility, can deepen our understanding of democratic practices. By examining care as a normative and political framework, the seminars interrogate how care ethics challenges conventional liberal-democratic ideals, reshaping conceptions of citizenship, power, and social cohesion. Speakers include: Sandra Laugier (Université Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne), Patricia Paperman (Paris 8), Carol Gilligan (NYU), Fabienne Brugére (Paris 8), Barbara Formis (Université Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne), Valentina Moro (Stony Brook University), and Zona Zarić (AUP).
