The idea behind TED is to help spread ideas that spark conversation, deepen understanding, and drive meaningful change. In 2021, AUP first turned to this platform for a partnership that seemed only natural for a university also focused on the emergence of new ideas out of discussion, exchange and debate. The result was the creation of a student-led TEDxAUP conference, the “x” meaning “independently organized.”
The theme of this year’s conference, held on March 23, 2024 was “Resilience Redefined: Thriving in Times of Change.” In a world where change is the only constant, resilience takes on a whole new meaning. The TEDxAUP 2024 gathered a diverse group of speakers to challenge our perspectives on what it means to be resilient. From personal stories of triumph over adversity to innovative strategies for facing an ever-evolving future, “Resilience Redefined” offered a fresh lens through which to view the challenges we all encounter in life. “Organizing the TEDxAUP event was one of the most fulfilling and memorable experiences during my time at AUP,” said Leah Rebecca Nagpal, one the members of the student committee and this year’s Undergraduate Student Council President. “The overwhelming response from attendees and the positive feedback we received underscored the impact of our hard work and demonstrated the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and community engagement. The success of TEDxAUP exceeded all expectations.”
