Upgrading from Office 2019 to Microsoft 365

Dear AUP Staff and Faculty,

We are excited to announce the upgrade to our office productivity suite, transitioning from Office 2019 to Microsoft 365 on Windows-Based computers. This transition represents a move towards a more modern, efficient, and secure digital environment.

Upgrade Rollout Schedule:

Windows Based Desktop Computers (Friday, October 13 at 7:00 PM): The upgrade to Microsoft 365 will begin on all AUP fixed desktop computers located on campus. Please make sure that you save and close  any unsaved work in your office applications and log off from the computer before leaving the office.

Windows Based Laptop Computers (Starting Monday, October 16): The upgrade rollout for laptops will start on the morning of Monday, October 16. After turning on your laptop and connecting it to the AUP network, you will receive a prompt on your screen indicating that the Office upgrade is available.

To expedite the upgrade and minimize any potential interruption, you can anticipate the process at any convenient time before Monday by clicking on the following link: Microsoft 365 installation.

This will launch the upgrade instantly allowing you to continue working with the updated software as soon as possible.

Note: When you click the link, if you receive a warning “Microsoft has identified a potential security concern”, please click on “Yes” to continue the installation. To lunch the installation, you should be on campus or connected to AUP VPN.

Upgrade Process Details:

Prompt Message: When you connect your computer to the AUP network, you will see a message on your screen informing you about the pending Office upgrade.
Duration: The upgrade process typically takes about 15 minutes to complete.
App Closure: During the upgrade, all Office applications (such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) will be temporarily closed to ensure a smooth installation.
User Action: Before initiating the upgrade, please ensure that you have saved and closed any unsaved work in your Office applications to avoid data loss or disruption during the upgrade process.

What to Expect:

With this upgrade, you can expect some notable changes in the esthetics and slight adjustments in features. However, please rest assured that no essential features will be lost during this transition. In fact, you will gain access to a range of enhanced tools and capabilities, resulting in a more productive and streamlined experience.
