AH 2012 Medieval art & architecture
Anna Russakoff
Cost: €50 (includes round-trip train transportation, visit & entrance fees of programmed activities, lectures, professor’s trip costs, and VAT)
Chartres Cathedral is just over an hour from Paris by train. The bulk of the cathedral was rebuilt after a large fire in 1194, from which the relic of the Virgin’s tunic miraculously survived. Less than 30 years later, most of the present-day Cathedral was complete. This monument alone provides an unparalleled overview not only of Gothic architecture, sculpture, and stained glass, but also of medieval religious, secular, and intellectual life. This visit also includes a walk through the historic town of Chartres, and a visit to the Stained Glass Museum.
Last day to register/cancel: January 25
Late cancelation fee: €50
Payment for study trips is due as soon as the trip is officially confirmed by email from the adangaup.edu (CP Coordinator, Alexis Dang)
