COP21 Conference: The Background

The Environmental and Energy Policy Group of American Democrats Abroad in collaboration with the Departments of Computer Science Math and Environmental Studies, and Global Communications of the American University of Paris invite you to hear a panel of experts give a comprehensive report that will help you better understand the workings and the stakes involved in the biggest and most important world climate change summit to date, sponsored by the UN and to be held in Paris in December 2015: COP21

Speakers:

Claudio Piani: Department co-Chair Computer Science Math and Environmental Studies, AUP, will speak on Climate Projections.

Tom Gross: Research oceanographer and coordination of international ocean observation systems, will speak on The role of the ocean in moderating Climate Change and the costs to health and sustainability of marine resources.  

Dana Powers: Environment Journalist whose articles appear in the International New York Times and other publications, will speak on Renewable Energy Deployment

Jim Christiansen: Management consultant working with governments, large companies and entrepreneurs, will speak on Agricultural research, entrepreneurial activity, and how consumers can make a difference

Celine Ramstein: From the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) as the COP21 project manager will discuss Behind the Scenes at COP21 and how the negotiations will take place

Jean-Pierre Larochelle will moderate the panel members who will present brief presentations and then proceed to a Q&A discussion
