Black History Month Guest Speaker: Evie Shockley

University Room: David T. McGovern Grand Salon (C-104)
Monday, February 5, 2018 - 18:30 to 20:00

Joins us for the first event of AUP’s Black History Month 2018 for an evening with Evie Shockley.

Observed annually in February, Black History Month is a celebration of black accomplishment and its many heroes, who are often forgotten about, or rarely mentioned. According to Black History Month founder Carter G. Woodson, “If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition.”

Evie Shockley, celebrated poet and associate professor of Rutgers, will be presenting her new book of poems, Semiautomatic. This event is part of two hosted by the History Department’s Professor Michelle Kuo. The second will take place on the following Tuesday.
