THE CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS  A organization that awards scholarships to study at  AUP invites you to an event to better understand Afghanistan and a role played by our Center

 

AN AFGHAN IN PARIS AND WHY AFGHANISTAN MATTERS. The riveting story of a young Afghan woman student attending AUP. As well  as presentation of Everyday Afghanistan website by an AUP graduate student.

Michael A. Barry,

Distinguished Professor at American University of Afghanistan,  now in Venice.  He is the author of the definitive   Cambridge University A History of Modern Afghanistan

 

Born in the USA raised in France and in Afghanistan, Professor Barry’s work in  defense of human rights and leading humanitarian missions, often under the most dangerous conditions of war, has ranged from the International Federation for Human Rights to Médecins du Monde and the United Nations.

Dr. Barry also taught Islamic Studies for many years at Princeton University, and as an internationally recognized scholar of Islamic Art, he advised on the Islamic galleries at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

 

Paris-based CNN Correspondent Jim Bittermann will moderate the conversation

 

The Communication Center (CECI) has awarded several scholarships over the past 20 years  to students from troubled places in the world.  This year, we succeeded in receiving two  Afghan students.  This was no easy task. Learn more about it and about a troubled part of the world we live in.

 

This event will be both on Zoom and in person at the American University of Paris
