THE SLEEPING BEAUTY BALLET

When Rudolf Nureyev toured Paris with the Kirov in 1961, shortly before seeking political asylum, he captivated audiences as the Prince in The Sleeping Beauty. Thirty years later, he reimagined this “ballet of ballets” for the Paris Opera Ballet, retaining its enchantment and Tchaikovsky's brilliance while enhancing the prominence of male roles, especially the Prince.

After a decade's absence from the Paris Opera stage, Aurora, Désiré, the Lilac Fairy, the Blue Bird, and the fearsome Carabosse are ready to enchant a new generation.
