As of Monday 4th, AUP is proud to run its second annual summer design workshop in partnership with Goldsmiths College, University of London, the University of Tasmania, The University of Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne, and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Masters students from Goldsmiths will join doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows from the Sorbonne and AUP undergraduates in an intensive investigation of the role of performance in design. We are also happy to host visiting design researchers from Arizona State University, Carnegie Mellon University, Sciences Po, The Studio at the Edge of the World and the University of Wollongong. This partnership is the fruit of febrile debates about design, political change, ecology, philosophy and agency that began back at the University of Sydney in the 1990s thanks to some very innovative pedagogy and a few inspired design theorists – this workshop is an attempt to repeat that effort and keep that cycle turning through the generations.
