Announcing the Quai d’Orsay Society, a New Legacy Giving Program for AUP’s Future

Home>News>

AUP's generous community of alumni, former students, trustees, parents and friends supports initiatives across the University with direct financial contributions to scholarships, campus redevelopment projects, an endowment and more. Now, the AUP community is invited to support the University’s future by joining the Quai d’Orsay Society with a legacy gift commitment.

Planned giving allows donors to the University to have a significant impact on AUP’s future without impacting their current financial resources. By committing a gift via a will or other testamentary plan, donors help secure a rigorous international educational experience for future generations of global explorers. Commitments of life insurance or retirement assets also qualify as planned gifts, along with many other options – a member of AUP’s planned giving team will be happy to discuss which option would best suit you.

Alumni and friends at all stages of life can consider a legacy gift to AUP. “Right now, I don’t make a huge salary, so I’m not in a reasonable position to be giving monthly to AUP,” explains Emily Ide ’19, a recent graduate from the MAGC program. “However, I can set aside a percentage of my retirement plan for AUP as an easy way to join the Quai d’Orsay Society. By designating a modest percentage, I can make a meaningful contribution to the University, even if I can’t help right away.”

The Quai d’Orsay Society honors those who have made legacy pledges to support the University and provides opportunities to connect with AUP and its community. Planned gifts may be designated to support student scholarships, faculty excellence, the campus or research centers, or to help develop an endowment to secure AUP’s financial future.

“Legacy giving is particularly important due to its potential to contribute to an endowment,” explains Gil Kemp, an AUP trustee. “Growing a nest egg for the University allows us to provide sustainable scholarships funded by earned interest, which permanently contribute to furthering AUP’s educational goals.”

Today, AUP seeks to empower its students with the tools to cross both disciplinary and cultural borders with ease and to assume their places as global leaders and citizens of the world. By fostering an educational environment that emphasizes the open exchange of ideas and the development of one’s cultural fluency, AUP prepares its graduates to thrive in a globalized world and navigate the challenges such a world presents.

If you are interested in contributing to the University via a legacy gift, you can get in touch with the Office of Planned Giving to discuss which option would be right for you. For more information, visit legacy.aup.edu.
