Pompeii has some of the most spectacular and best-conserved Ancient Roman wall paintings, thanks to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79CE. The primary purpose of this trip will be to see the Roman houses with these original paintings, whose vibrant colors and diverse subjects will be extremely important for students in both Ancient Art and Painting II. This will be complemented by a visit to the Archaelogical Museum in Naples, where additional fragments of Ancient paintings and other masterpieces are conserved.
