"Do I Sound Gay": Film screening in the presence of the director

University Room: David T. McGovern Grand Salon (C-104)
Saturday, October 17, 2015 - 14:00 to 17:00

"Do I Sound Gay" is a new documentary film, directed by David Thorpe, about 'the gay voice'.

Is there such a thing as a "gay voice"? Why do some people "sound gay" but others don't? Why are gay voices a mainstay of pop culture but also a trigger for bullying and harrassment? "Do I Sound Gay" explores these questions and more, including interviews with Margaret Cho, Tim Gunn, Don Lemon, Dan Savage, David Sedaris, and Georgoe Takei.

Entertainment weekly called it "One of Summer 2015 Must-see docs"; Time magazine called it "A playful, heartfelt investigation"; Indiewire describe it as "Incredibly thought-provoking and funny".
