The year 2018 marks the 110th birthday of Simone de Beauvoir, writer, philosopher and journalist. It also marks the publication of two volumes of her memoirs in the prestigious Pléiade collection. This immense figure of 20th century feminism marked our time with the epic opus The Second Sex, written in 1949, and still studied today around the world. It continues to inform our thinking. A Forum will be held in Paris at the Université Paris Diderot that will investigate the impact of Simone de Beauvoir’s work on the feminist movement, philosophic thinking, literary studies, and the evolution of our society. Women’s combat for equality continues apace, with the Forum featuring the multiple issues Simone de Beauvoir’s work invites us to reflect upon.
The Forum is open to all. For a full description and schedule of the 3-day program, how to register, and practical information, please consult the conference website (in French) at https://penseravecsdb.sciencesconf.org.
