On Tuesday, Professor Craven and Professor Regan will be presenting Michael Roemer’s terrific film, "Nothing But A Man" made in 1964. The film, the story of a marriage between a railroad worker and his wife in the Jim Crow south. The film won prizes at the Venice Film Festival and was widely heralded when it was released but was forgotten for some time, rediscovered in the last decade as an important classic. Starring Ivan Dixon and singer Abbey Lincoln in her only film role, it features Stevie Wonder and other Motown artists on the soundtrack. We’ll introduce the screening and conduct a discussion after the film. Everyone is welcome.
