International affairs have been dominated by collective actors: states, international organizations, multinational corporations, NGOs, and social movements. But what happens when individuals control financial resources that rival state budgets? Billionaires like George Soros, Bill Gates or Sheldon Adelson have been trying to reshape the world according their personal goals. This talk will discuss when and how money can be transformed into power.
