Join us for a feisty and festive performance of Terre-de-Bas, the latest poem-play by Jocelyn Brudey, a playwright, director, actor, and activist of Guadeloupian origin. Like Aimé Césaire who revisits his homeland of La Martinique in his epic Cahier d’un retour au pays natal (Notebook of a Return to the Native Land), Brudey undertakes a lyrical journey back to his island-hometown of Terre-de-Bas in Guadeloupe to explore his slave ancestry and hybrid identity in France today. He will recite his poem to the edgy chords of an electric guitar, in a musical face-off with Maxime Perrin on the accordion.
