New AUP Magazine Looks to the Future

Home>News>

What will The American University of Paris look like in the years to come? It’s a question upon which our entire community has been reflecting as it works together to draft a new 5-year Strategic Plan.

The Fall 2024 issue of AUP Magazine offers an in-depth explanation of these vital discussions across our institution – including the recently conducted Alumni Attitude Survey – which aim to reinforce community across borders of all types and lay the groundwork for intelligent growth.

But while all eyes may be on AUP’s next steps, the University’s talented students, staff and faculty continue to break new ground across disciplines, both on campus and beyond. This issue celebrates the appointment of Professors Claudia Roda and Susan Perry as UNESCO Co-Chairholders for Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights – their vital research in a forward-looking discipline considers varied and nuanced perspectives at the increasingly pertinent intersection of technology and human rights.

You’ll find a profile of Roda alongside those of five AUP alumni working at the forefront of human rights issues in evolving technological fields. In addition to holding jobs at top companies, NGOs and international organizations, each individual featured is taking their own ethical stance in current debates over the role and reach of technology – evidence that AUP teaches students to think outside the box and learn from real-world experience.

This issues also profiles alumni working in fields as varied as food, fashion and sports, proving that, wherever our students find themselves, they are in a position to act as leaders and give back to their communities. Whether working in tennis, art or activism, their career pathways confirm our community’s commitment to furthering the global good.

All that alongside our regular coverage including a Year in Review of events on campus, alumni updates in the Class Notes section, and a photo essay exploring changes to AUP housing from the early days of the institution to today. Learn how our student services teams have adapted to unforeseen circumstances to provide a solid base from which students can grow and thrive in the city of Paris.

You’ll find the full issue available now online – along with all previous issues – at the link below. We hope you enjoy celebrating this past year as you, a valued member of our global community, also look to the future.
