While about 67% of students who register internships with The American University of Paris choose to stay local and complete their internships in Paris, some return to their hometowns, and others travel somewhere new in order to absorb a different culture. AUP students are global explorers and AUP alumni live and work in 142 countries, covering just about every corner of the globe, so it’s no surprise that our students use their internships to travel and explore.
Tomislava Tomova gives us the tour of her internship with Evaneos in Paris, France.
I am from Sofia, Bulgaria where I have lived all my life before moving to Paris and coming to AUP.
I’m interning with Evaneos, a leading online marketplace for tailor-made tours.
I work in Paris, France.

Communications and Events Intern
Evaneos offers the unique opportunity to create custom-made trips directly with a local travel agent. Part of the Anglo Marketing Team (UK, Ireland, US, Canada) my role is to create, optimize, and distribute content for our website, blog and PR activities. My tasks include: defining our social media and blogging platform activities and executing them, creating and editing content for the website and blog (landing pages, articles, infographics), helping to respond to PR requests on an ad-hoc basis. I helped with the design of the blog and the articles are produced by me. I have also helped with the organization of Evaneos' participation in travel shows such as the Destinations - The Holiday & Travel Show London, which is the UK's biggest travel show.
The biggest challenge I have experienced is getting used to working in a big company with more than 130 people because in my previous internship we were less than 10 people.
The biggest success is the creation of the Evaneos UK Page and the blog. I have also enjoyed our participation in the Destinations - The Holiday & Travel Show London because my team and I traveled to London together and met numerous travelers and clients of the company from all parts of the world which was an extraordinary experience. Being able to meet people who have traveled with us and hearing their stories from their magical time with our local-travel agents is incomparable.
English, occasionally conversational French
I think the internship is incredibly relevant and important because as a blogger myself I have gained an enormous amount of skills that will help me with my own career in the future. By being in an international environment and working among people who are from different nationalities and speak different languages (just like in AUP), I became a truly global citizen who learned about various cultures, customs, and traditions. Having written about travel on a daily basis, I opened my mind to the possibilities that the world can offer and got inspired to travel the globe much as I can and as often as I can. Working in a team of like-minded individuals, eager to explore life's inexhaustible richness I saw the beauty of travelling and learned how important it is to get out of your comfort zone and embrace novelty and new adventures.
By strongly believing in the philosophy of Evaneos (organizing customized local-made trips, where you cut the middle-man and ensure that money stay in local economies, getting premium expertise without the premium price tag) it has been incredibly easy and pleasant to intern for the company. Everyone in the office is kind, creative and always ready to help you, so I am warm-heartedly recommending AUP students to apply for an internship or a job at Evaneos. You will not only gain skills that will help you to achieve your goals and aspirations further in life, but you will also meet remarkable people and make friends for life.
